6/8/07 The first meeting of the casino study commission authorized by Town Meeting was held this evening in Town Hall. There were about ten observers and several members of the press. Town Moderator Jim Thomas deftly handed the initial stages of the meeting prior to the election of a chair and vice chair.

The members discussed the charge the Town Meeting had given them and used the time to get acquainted so they could best decide whom to elect as their chair. Both Eric Cederholm and Brian Giovanoni, who had the most to say, were nominated. Cederholm suggested that Giovanoni was more knowledgeable starting out than he. A suggestion was made to have a chair and vice chair and this is what the committee voted.
