Just don't bring them here.

Why? Because, according to our anti-casino friends who are still fighting the good fight, increased population causes increased crime, and that darn casino is going to increase our population tremendously.

Part of that population will live here, part will be transient. Let's look at the transient part first, some 50,000 per day, they say. Apparently these deviants will be attracted by the bright lights of the mega-story casino skyscraper those darn Wampanoags are planning, and then will skulk into our downtown area to commit their heinous acts.

No? Well, then they'll be picking people's pockets in the casino itself, committing unspeakable sexual acts for money in the hallways, and perhaps even robbing people in the parking lots. The casino police will be powerless to stop them because, as we all know, their security cameras and patrols are easily subverted by the high tech gadgetry all modern criminals carry about with them. Don't try to convince me otherwise: I saw it in the movies.

And don't tell me that the vast majority of those people will just be here to gamble and take in the shows. Isn't it obvious: they are gamblers: they are already committing immoral acts, the slippery slope only slopes one direction and that's down to depravity, dishonesty and some other "d" word I can't think of just now.

And what about those employees? Some 5,000 of them, is it? At first that really upset me: adding 5,000 people and their families to Middleboro's population would be quite a boost. But then I found out some amazing facts. I was shocked by this, but apparently there are people who live outside of Middleboro yet work right here.

I know, I know, it seems so unlikely, but we even have some out of towners working here at Oak Point. Strangely enough, there are people who actually like living in places like Halifax and Carver. Kind of creepy, isn't it? But we can assume that at least some casino employees will be drawn from the 16,000 unemployed now living within 30 miles of Middleboro.

Others will be people who already live here. Maybe some Oak Pointers would like a part time casino job.. and they can still run their crack and meth labs out of their garages after hours, of course.

But the anti's are quite sure that there will be a vast influx of swarthy skinned foreigners with squalling children whose older siblings will stand on our street corners, leering at our womenfolk, and insulting us in languages we do not understand. Many of them will have criminal records, because casino's have no incentive whatsoever to do any employment screening: there's nothing to steal at a casino.

As there is very little rental housing or apartments in Middleboro, these ill-dressed miscreants will probably live in squalid tent cities, or be packed forty to a room, and spread vile diseases throughout our pristine town. I know it's not pretty, folks, but this is our future. Perhaps you once watched the movie "New Jack City"? That's what we have to look forward to..
