CasinoFacts Forum Planned for Middleboro.

Middleboro, MA – CasinoFacts-PAC has organized a forum to present the real effects of a mega-casino unleashed upon a small town. All concerned citizens in Middleboro and surrounding communities – as well as the press – are encouraged to attend.

Keynote speakers and information tables, as well as many CasinoFacts personnel on hand promise to make this evening an informative one.

"If you are undecided, or even slightly opinioned one way or the other, you need to come to this forum," says CasinoFacts co-director, James Reynolds.

The grassroots phenomenon CasinoFacts, materialized in Middleboro in recent months as the result of residents feeling their voices had been unheard by elected officials and the outside gambling business interests. To date there has been no open forum between anyone knowledgeable in the casino industry and the community - nor does one appear imminent - so the group has taken it upon themselves to present one.

Featured speakers at Wednesday night's forum will be Chip Faulkner, Director of Citizens for Limited Taxation, Diane Jeffery, President, League of Women Voters, Kathy Scanlon, Executive Director, Massachusetts Council on Compulsive Gambling and others. The meeting is scheduled for 7PM .

"Not often do you see such diverse speakers coming together to agree on a single issue," says Rich Young, a CasinoFacts co-director, and principal organizer of the forum, "…but these leaders agree a casino is bad for Middleboro and worse for Massachusetts ."

The insightful Young continues, "CasinoFacts forced the Selectmen to give Middleboro a say on this issue and these are just the speakers to inform the community of the problems that come with a casino."

The CasinoFacts Forum will be held on July 25 at 7PM, at the Middleboro VFW,

Like the forum, the group's website seeks to inform and enlighten. Articles, statistics, blogs and links to innumerable sources of information make this site a Google hotspot. "The mission of the website has always been to educate the public on the impact a casino will have on Middleboro, area towns, and Massachusetts as a whole," says webmaster and co-director Mark Belanger .
